A spokesman for the prime minister said a deal covering Libyan prisoner exchange was reached between the PM and the Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi.

However, the spokesman added that no agreement had been reached over the future of al-Megrahi because he is the subject of a legal review.

When asked if after that review al-Megrahi could be returned to serve his sentence in Libya, the spokesman would not be drawn.

This has caused a bit of a rift between the Scottish government and Blair as he didn't inform them of this, despite al-Megrahi having been convicted under Scottish law.

Even Blair's Scottish lacky, McConnel, described the lack of consultation as 'regrettable'.

Re: Lockerbie bomber to be transferred to Libya?

I think it's fairly well accepted in intelligence circles that it wasn't Libya behind this bombing. There was good reason to suspect the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine but it was decided that it was more politically pragmatic to demonize Libya as they were currently considered enemies.

(just an interesting aside on the PFLP is that Israel's Shin Bet may have been in cahoots with the PFLP abetting them in the Entebbe hijacking)

Khadafy had nationalized the oil industry in 1973, kicking out major foreign oil companies. (This is the same crime that Chavez is guilty of and is taken extremely seriously).

However, Khadafy is now our friend again, so it's time to send the "political hostage" home again. Why now?

Well, Blair has just been to Libya to celebrate the new friendship.

TRIPOLI (AFP) - Libya announced on Tuesday it will sign a 900-million-dollar exploration deal with British energy giant BP, paving the way for its return to the north African country after a 33-year absence.

Trample Scotlands government? A very small matter in the grand scheme of thing.

Unfortunately too often true.

Blair lies again:
http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/news/di ... 99.0.0.php

Tried to claim the talks did not concern Megrahi but now the Libyan's have blown his cover. Megrahi was the main reason for the talks.

Ironic that we have to rely on thr government of "Evil Dictator" Gaddafi for the truth.
