The Sports Xchange web site reported that the Dolphins will be the home team of an international regular-season game next season likely to be played in London's Wembley Stadium against either the Giants or Bills.

"Nothing has been decided with regards to a location or the participating team in the NFL's international regular-season game," NFL spokesman Michael Signora said. "We hope to announce the host city for the game next week and the competing teams by the Super Bowl."

In football one of the teams has to be home, it decides who calls the coin toss. For example Ohio State was the home team for the National Championship game in Arizona.

I think he knows what home means in football, he is scottish after all

A proper home game is meant to be in your own ground where you have home advantage.

Playing thousands of miles away in a different continent can hardly be called home.

Exceptions would be like the World Cup, Euro, etc.

I just hope the Dolphins have a back up stadium booked. With all the delays I can't see Wembley being completed this year.

I'm aware of that but the word 'home' is as out of place as the word 'football'.

According to the NFL, since the game was announced Friday, more than 160,000 fans, mostly in the U.K., have requested more than 500,000 tickets to the game. To gauge enthusiasm for the game, the league's U.K. Web site invited visitors to register their interest in tickets at nfllondon2007.com. Traffic was so heavy, the league said, the site crashed several times, and the deadline to request tickets isn't until Feb. 18.

Expressing interest doesn't guarantee tickets to the game at Wembley Stadium, expected to seat 85,000 to 90,000. The NFL is working on how to distribute tickets to fans in England, as well as to Dolphins and Giants fans, league spokesman Michael Signora said Wednesday. Some type of lottery system is expected.

This game is 1PM(Eastern) today, if you are interested. Sadly the Dolphins are the worst team in the NFL. Hopefully they can pull out their first win today for the home crowd in London.

So who won? And was the stadium packed?

The Giants beat the Dolphins in a low scoring stinker 13-10. The stadium was packed and the crowd was colorful, including a streaker who ran on the field. The conditions were terrible for a football game. Constantly rainy, the field was a mud pit with players unable to get a foothold. Very little offense the whole game. The field is obviously not meant for that kind of abuse, they said like 30 of the players over 300 pounds where the average soccer player is 160.

They should have scheduled the game for earlier in the year when it's less rainy. Oh well, I bet it was mostly American ex-patriots who attended anyway.

Maybe Miami could use some of these players.

I'm not a great fan of NFL but that was a lovely move.
