Hi Wayne,

This has happened each time I logged in now so I figured it was systematic enough to raise.

When logging in, my details are accepted but on redirection, I'm still labelled as guest and unable to post. I then have to log in a second time before it recognises me properly. I've checked the browser settings, cleared the cookies, seemed to make no difference. I still need to log in twice.

Once or twice, clicking links for checking my profile, making a new post etc seem to have taken me back to the forum list somewhat unexpectedly. However I've not been able to reproduce this one with any degree of reliability.

Here's the basic browser/system info:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2

That is very odd, and I can't say that the whole things gotten too stable just yet, but I'll try to look into it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

No apologies needed, it's no great inconvenience. For all we know at this point it could be some arcane weirdness at my end.

Same here, it seems to spit me back into the main page randomly when I click Post or Reply. I'm using Mozilla Firefox 1.0 on my laptop and Mozilla 1.7.5 on my tower.

Very odd. Maybe it's a firefox 1.0 thing. Try upgrading to 1.02 or whatever's now the latest?

Using Opera 7.51 I got the same automatically logged out syndrome as the others, but once I finally got logged back in (after authorizing the account then logging in twice without logging out myself) there's been no problem at all.

I'll try logging out at some point over the weekend to see what happens.

That Guest was me... I was able to post that after I logged in, but everything said I wasn't (everything being the points made below)

-----

I've logged out just now, then logged in again.

I appear on the list of "who's online" but...

1) "Log in" link still there - no log out

2) clicking PM takes me to the login screen

3) clicking profile - same as PM

4) no "View your posts" or "View unanswered posts"

5) clicked "home" and everything appeared as if I was logged in

Due to 5 happening, I can think either you have to click "home" if you aren't being shown as logged in, or you have to wait a minute or two.

--edit--

I'll try again in the afternoon - but I'll clear out my cookies aswell.

Oh, I'm only using Opera 7.51 - I'm not loading IE to see how that copes

--edit 2: the revenge--

@Wayne

When I try a few tests with the logging in tomorrow is it ok if I start a new thread for myself in this section while trying it out? That way I'm not adding unnecessary posts to this one? After the testing the thread could be deleted if it's no longer needed.

I should've thought of that before testing here

I had a thought. Are you coming in with, or without the www? Is the site switching you between the two somewhere in the middle?

I "MAY" have fixed it. I believe it was a cross-hatch of usage between "www" and without the "www".

Please alter your bookmarks to reflect the "www" from now on and all should be better.

Hi Wayne,

Yep, that fixed the login gremlin

For the record I was using www, but I can't say I noticed any temporary mix of non www. That said, I didn't look for it either

One thing I forgot to mention was that I was loggin in through www.whyzzat.com/forums and not the login page. All the pages were coming up as www.whyzzat.com. There were no times when there was no www.

As Karlos said though it's fixed

No problems logging in before or after clearing out cookies.
