need help finding a phpbb hack please?

Hi guys,

You are much more search friendly than I.

We've got a problem with bogus accounts being created by spam bots. Can one of you perhaps help me look for the authentication mode for PHPBB which requires a new user applicant to put in the random generated numbers? That should stop them or at least slow them down, but I can't seem to find it.

I'll see what I can find for you.

A quick thought -- Username, password, email <click submit> upon submission the user gets a 2nd screen which prompts for a dictionary word that pops open in a 2nd browser window then upon that submission it actually submits.

Checked my bank which has an image which is a wavy word you have to type in for an identification to lock out automation or spambots. It's .asp so not PHP.

But, something similar might be easy -- create ~10 words as wavy images and after the user hits submit the random wavy image comes up and a blank to type in the matching dictionary word. I don't think you'd need an extensive list of word:image relationships but enough and in the future you could always add more.

Thanks, but I'm actually looking for a drop in PHPBB hack, not something I have to tear about the PHPBB code and write myself.
