Fixed is the cheapo lookin interior. Improved is the suspension. Wheels have power bumps over them. Nose is rounded down giving it better areodynamics. 6spd tranny. Tail is rounded up (least attractive part IMO).

Also announced Factory Option SuperChargers.

Unfortunately nothing major in engines. 4.6L is up to 315HP. Ford has a new V6 which is rumored to come to the Stang in 2011-2012. It should be close to or over 30MPG w/ the 6spd tranny.

Not a fan of the wheels, but I'll grant you that the interior looks a little better. Wonder if it's any larger inside though, which is my #1 concern. Sitting in one, the door hits me in the side, leaving the only way to drive one is with my arm hanging out the window.

If I had the money (and unfortunately I don't), my vote is for the new Challenger. Saw and got a chance to drive one (R/T model with the 5.7 liter) recently and it was flawless save for the gas mileage.

Cars are always a curious question.

The 09 Mustang in setup is more comparable in the additional HP and suspensions upgrade to the 08 Bullitt. The 08 GT is currently ~$30K, the 2009 likely will be close to this price. Performance of the Bullitt is a 315HP 4.6L w/ 5.4 0-60 time, and .84 on the skidpad.

The 09 Challenger is indeed a pretty car. It's bigger nearly 700 pounds more than the Mustang. It makes up with that by using IRS in the back and a 5.7L engine making 425HP. 0-6 time is in the 5.1 second range and .85 on the skidpad. The issue is the car is nearly 33% more around $40K.

So if one is spending $40K would one spend 12% more or $45K for the Mustang GT 500 Cobra? 500HP and a 4.3 sec 0-60 time and .88 on the skidpad, even though it's a straight rear end.

I'm lucky enough to not have this problem.

The new Camaro is coming too and it's pretty. It's about as heavy as the Challenger. The new G8 is on the same platform. I imagine they'll tighten the suspension and improve the HP. The SS is to have 422 so close to the Challenger.

Seems to me Dodge is hitting a smaller market with their car. They don't seem to have that $30K number which is closer to the mainstream buyer. Could prove to end the Challenger life early in a bad economy. Well, and of course Ford's quality is ranking near Toyota and Dodge's well let's just say not as good.

I'd agree with that. I think the Mustang and Camaro will chew up the market, and not leave a lot left for the Challenger. Both GM and Ford's build quality is higher, and the price is lower.

I think the Camaro is going to be an even bigger hit than GM expects, too. That base v6 model packs around 300hp... At 27 mpg or so... And $23,000? Performance that sure beats the heck out of the base Mustang, and rivals the GT, with a price that undercuts the base Mustang? That sounds like a winning combination. Everyone loves the performance numbers of the big v8's, but the v6 base models have ALWAYS cranked the sales numbers in the ponycar wars.

Plus, I'm not a big fan of the retro styling... So when you start talking into a $45,000+ range, IMHO, the choice starts becoming very clear. The Corvette Z51. (Granted, the MSRP is $50,000, but they are on lots out here and I'm sure you could leave with one for $45,000 if you're anything close to a reasonable negotiator...) Given the choice between a high-end Mustang/Camaro/Challenger or a Z51, it would take me about 0.001 sec to decide. :)

I wouldn't say the interior is completely fixed, it seems they forgot about the speedo/tach. Looks like they pulled those out of '50 era cars and plugged them into this thing. Otherwise not bad, but it still compares unfavorably to a 370Z. Basically, the interior is passable but far from trend setting. I certainly won't be selling my Prelude for that thing, but the 370Z on the other hand... That's been calling my name lately... :-)
