A wave of discontent with the nation’s health-care system is sweeping across Canada, with the vast majority of Canadians revealing they feel like outsiders who are powerless to influence their own health care.

Wait times remain a huge problem, he said — even to see a doctor. Five million Canadians don’t have access to a family physician. And, once they enter the system, “people are feeling a bit powerless to control what happens to them next,”

When asked to score the federal government’s performance in dealing with health care, 23% gave the government an F, up from 19% last year. Meanwhile, 24% gave their provincial governments an F for dealing with health care, up from 21% in 2010.
When asked whether they expect health services in their community will improve or worsen in the next two to three years, 48% said they will worsen, versus 38% who say they will improve.

Not surprised, Harper is keen on spending money on useless things like over priced fighter jets and blowing a billion dollars on a G20/8 meeting. And when everyone gets pissed off about the quality of healthcare he can use that as an excuse to bring in private health care. Note that Canadians don't want private health care, they just want a government that cares about health care. That may explain why most of them voted against Harper.

EDIT: The article failed to mention that there is the Royal College of Physicians which takes complains about doctors. They are a powerful organization that can affect entire hospitals if needed.

We've seen a similar wave in the USA. Even though our healthcare changes will save billions and about 32million uninsured should be insured. We have about 1/3 of the people saying Obamacare didn't go far enough. The treatment centers with the highest customer satifsaction rating is actually the Gov owned hospital and drs - Veteran's Healthcare.

Best check those numbers again, the savings have vanished into costing billions (believe it was CBO). That's not including the cost of the explosion of regulations impacting outside of government's costs. One page out of Obamacare bill has created over 400 pages of NEW HHS regulations. One can only hope the USSC will kill it before it hits the infectious stage.

" this is what you get: a law that accidentally kicks members of Congress out of their own health plans, " -- Republicans should all refuse Gov Healthcare. Go figure, instead they bitched about the 30 day waiting period.

We should be able to if the USSC upholds the lower court's decisions. Of course that pulls the pole out of the Obamacare tent, so be it.

the best way to get good health care is to remove ALL health care for members of congress UNTIL they pass a good package that everyone in the country gets to have.

until then, they get to have MY health program. NONE and prevention which THEY have to pay for.:finger:

Make them eat their own dog food. I mean REALLY eat their own dog food.

@Fluffy, these always are more complicated than it sounds.

Here, for example, polls have shown when asked if people dislike the new healthcare plan about 59% say they oppose it. When you dig into the depth of the question one finds that about 1/3 of that 59% think the plan didn't go far enough. Then when you dig in deeper people favor most of the new provisions, such healthcare companies not rejecting you due to pre-existing conditions.

So what does this tell us? What I see here is the marketing 'Obamacare bad' works. But, those people with more than a marketing sound bite and a bit of depth of understanding it quickly turns in favor. It's a disservice to one's position let alone the law to claim we should be changing policy based on a sound bite opposition #. But, hey ya gotta take those victories where you can...
