A story about the people will be seeing you naked soon

i'm glad the morons showed their true colors during TRAINING

now, what the airlines should do is fire both of these jackasses because they have proven that they don't know how to behave professionally.

of course, the airlines have proven to be total morons themselves which is why I have no interest in flying.

this has nothing to do with the technology involved. btw.

The problem is, the security is no longer private nor run by the airlines. Airport security falls under the Department of Homeland Security (previously TSA). This is our lovely government at work.

Not entirely nothing. And it's even sadder considering that the technology is largely useless for the purpose for which it is sold.
what I mean by that comment is that these particular individuals referred to in that article would make horrible employees no matter WHERE they worked at the airport (and possibly anywhere).

I don't have much confidence in airports and airlines. they have proven that they don't understand the problem and have no idea how to get a solution.

treating customers like criminals is not a solution.

picking idiots to man customs is not a solution.

spending lots of money on technology which doesn't really show a cleverly tailored bomb suit (if I may call it that) is not a solution.

if the airline/airports can't get their act together they will find themselves with a dead industry.

Anyone who thinks they can have both privacy and security is dreaming.

I agree with Cecilia. This isn't an issue with the technology itself (although Fluffy pointed out a much more serious problem with it). I strongly suspect that there's lots more to this story then what's in this article. This guy was probably harassed before these new machines arrived, it probably just went to a new level. But what's to say the same couldn't have happened if they were practicing strip searches - which security agents also perform and obviously train. This story reminds me of all those "internet crime" front page news stories where it was big news to find out someone used the internet for something criminal.

Gee, making those security guards into federal employees made things so much better! I feel safer already, not. What should have been done was make the local law enforcement contracted out to do the work. They have the real training of dealing with people and not too many people are willing to piss off a deputy sheriff knowing who is going to be taking them to who's jail. Bring in the dogs and voice lie detectors and dump the radiation hazards.
