How very interesting.
It's made the Saturday paper here and quite a few places online. It's quite a remarkable turn of events. I wonder how this will play out now.

Understanding the human genome and DNA reveals that we are all related. we are all related to people we don't like. we are related to hitler. we are even related to cheney!

I know, eewwwww

but it's a fact

The man clearly has issues.

Are you implying that being from a Jewish family is an issue?

So far, Israel's reaction is : "no comment".

It is an issue when you spend so much energy spreading hate towards Jews. Self loathing Jews have issues. Just re-enforces my belief that he's a nut job and explains why most Iranians are so upset that he stole the election.

An interesting misconception, but one common in the media. Ahmadinejad spends a lot of time criticizing Israel, Zionism and misuse of the Holocaust for political reasons, but he does not hate on Jews. I know that the media says that he implies hatred of Jews by criticizing those other things but that is a false (and I believe deliberate) inference - mostly from people who ARE zionist or politically connected Israelis.

It would be similar to saying that people who oppose Nazism, criticize Adolf Hitler and commemorate the Holocaust are hating Germans.

Self loathing Jews have issues.
This is a "bullshit" term. "Self Loathing Jew" (I see that the ante has been upped since "Self Hating Jew") is a pure propaganda invention. There are many serious Hasidim (it really is laughable to claim that they hate themselves for being Jewish) who oppose even the idea of a Jewish state. If a Jew disagrees with the state of Israel in any way he or she is NOT a self-hating Jew. If they hate anything it would be Israel but the term "Israel Criticizing Jew" would be more fair.

Imagine if critics of Bush had been called "Self Hating Americans". Oh wait - that's not so hard to imagine. OK. Imagine if critics of Obama were called "Self Hating Americans". Yeah. It says more about the people who would use the term than about the people who it's used against, doesn't it.

Most Iranians actually believe that he WON the election. Most polls before the election predicted this outcome.

You and I have spent a lot of time criticizing Israel and Zionism, Ahmadinejad has spent a lot of time promising his followers that the world when Israel no longer exists is on it's way: Soon this stain of disgrace will be cleaned from the garment of the world of Islam, and this is attainable. Yep, all one needs is a few nuclear weapons.

It would be similar to saying that people who oppose Nazism, criticize Adolf Hitler and commemorate the Holocaust are hating Germans.
False analogy because it's a false argument. It's not about criticism, it's about threats. Slight difference there. Let's not forget that Iran funds and possibly arms Israel's enemies. This of course predates Ahmadinejad, but it goes to show that he's an active part of a campaign set out to cause serious harm to Israel and it's citizens. Far from simple criticizing. Not sure why the critiques against Israel and it's backer the US don't apply to Hezbollah and Iran? From my point of view I see no saints just a lot of sinners.

But there were Americans who sold critical secrets to the Soviets during the cold war. High treason might be considered a sign of self loathing. It's one thing to criticize, but when you decide to take matters into your own hands you're much more then a mere critic - and often motivated by hate of your own kind. Perhaps the phrase "Self Loathing Jew" is grossly over used, but if Ahmadinejad is truly Jewish, then perhaps this is the one case where it truly applies.

That would be suicidal. There is no gain for Iran in nuking Israel. Israel is quite prepared to use what it calls its "Samson Option" and irradiate the entire region (and probably some European capitals too) with its not insignificant nuclear arsenal.

I was not able to find any source for the quote you used but if it's a reference to the supposed "wiped off the map" quote:
this regime occupying Jerusalem (een rezhim-e eshghalgar-e qods) must [vanish from] the page of time (bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad)
is quite clearly talking about the zionist regime ruling Israel. Nuclear weapons are quite useless at combating zionism as a war is useless for combating terrorism. Zionism is an ideology and is undermined by exposure to daylight.

[/quote:14yavgtq] So the allied powers that threatened Germany with war (and actually DID go to war) were German hating? So WWII was actually a war of racism?
Let's not forget that Iran funds and possibly arms Israel's enemies.
Let's not forget that Israel and the US fund and arm Iran's enemies (and also are Iran's enemies). Let us not forget that Israel is currently occupying territory that is not theirs (while continuing to oppress the population there and steal land and resources) and that Israel has in quite recent memory invaded its neighbours. Let us not forget that the US currently occupies the country on the eastern border of Iran and also occupies the country on the western border of Iran, one and quite likely, both of which it occupies contrary to international law.

Obama says that Iran is failing to follow laws all nations must obey and yet Iran IS obeying the laws while the US and Israel flout them.

From my point of view I see no saints just a lot of sinners.
You just support one set of sinners over the other and would happily see the ones who live nearest you slaughter the ones who live furthest away.

There are self loathing Americans, but it's not determined by how you vote.
There are people who loath themselves - that's true - but someone who hates a group does not count themselves in the group. One man's "Self Hating American" is another man's "True Patriot".

High treason might be considered a sign of self loathing.
High treason is a crime against the rulers. The rulers are not the ruled.
Hate of your own "kind" is not hate of yourself. "Self Hating Jew" is still bullshit. The Jews that criticize Israel do NOT hate themselves nor even do they hate Jews in general. The people that yell "Self Hating Jew" hate those Jews. The people who use the label are the haters. Every time.

The Guardian just coughed up a timely article on self hating Jews for me. It's in response to the response to the Goldstone report, but it's germane.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.
Ahmadinejad is once again not Jewish.
Hmmm... So which group of liars should we believe now? Perhaps the correct answer is: Who gives a shit?

Heh, funny. To be honest I wasn't really familiar with the term and how it's used this way. I certainly wouldn't use it to describe a jew critical of Israel, but I may use it to describe a jew determined to killing all the jews in Israel.

A jew determined on killing all the jews in Israel would be an "Israeli Jew hating Jew" - still not self-hating. He would only be self-hating if he hated... (wait for it........ drum roll, please)...

drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

... HIMSELF!

(Brrom *tish*)

Sure, but they say you hate those you hate because they remind you of the things you hate about yourself.

Yes I totally hate myself for invading my nearest neighbours and actively suppressing anyone who stood before me by hook or by crook.

Oh wait...

"Self-hating" used synonymously with "Self-loathing" is an epithet describing a psychological outlook of hatred of one's identity and/or ancestry.

"Self-hating Jew" describes a hatred of one's Jewish identity and/or ancestry

It is equivalent to "Uncle Tom" or "Oreo" used in the Black & Hispanic communities

Obama is described as "self-hating" American, because of his actions, e.g. "the around the world apology speech tour"
