Moved from Funny Pics thread.
The bids were a fraction of the money that Jones has been ordered to pay in defamation lawsuits in Connecticut and Texas filed by relatives of victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. Lopez said the auction outcome “left a lot of money on the table” for families.
That's AP, so you get the typical leftwing talking points. If you want a more balanced look:
Alex Jones had a terrible take on the situation. His take was so bad, I stopped watching or following anything regarding him for a time. That said, terrible wrong takes are hardly a new phenomenon. He wasn't even the only one with this specific bad take. The $1.5B judgement was also beyond ridiculous. This was always about silencing Alex and have a chilling effect any other media that dared break from the official narrative. I've pointed out just as bad or worse takes on the regular, and none of them ever see the same actions.
Alex Jones keeps Infowars for now after judge rejects The Onion’s winning auction bid
The Onion offered $1.75 million in cash and other incentives for Infowars’ assets in the auction. First United American Companies, which runs a website in Jones’ name that sells nutritional supplements, bid $3.5 million. The bids were a fraction of the money that Jones has been ordered to pay in defamation lawsuits in Connecticut and Texas filed by relatives of victims of the Sandy Hook shooting.
