Allen West calls Wisconsin senators “cowards”

South Florida Congressman Allen West branded the runaway state senators of Wisconsin a bunch of “cowards,” comparable to Army deserters.

“What kind of representative democracy have we become when elected officials run from executing their prescribed duties?” West said in a weekly newsletter to constituents and fans that begins, “Dear Patriot.”

“In the military we have General Order number one: `I shall not leave my appointed place of duty or post until properly relieved,’” said West, a retired Army lieutenant colonel. “If a leader takes off, we call it `desertion.’ What manner of person runs and hides instead of making a stand, making a decision?”

Opinion fluff. If these were Republican politicians hiding out to use a procedural rule to prevent a vote on taxing rich guys they would be called heroes who risk arrest for taking a principled stand. All the rhetoric about the tactic is bogus and they only talk about the tactics because they would lose if they talked about the facts.

Now, who's dumb enough to fall for this? Probably lots of people. The chances are the talking points have already been focus group tested. That's how PR is done these days (Even been in a focus group? It's quite interesting).

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I just wonder that when in 1840 when Abraham Lincoln fled out a 2nd story window to avoid a vote if West would consider Lincoln a coward. And clearly West does not understand the government is not the military nor should it be.

Don't forget the Dems asked the Governor to meet with them to negotiate. The Governor refused. The Dems asked the Republicans to meet with them to negotiate. The Republicans refused. The Dems were elected to represent the people just as much as the Republicans or Governor were. No one voted for dictators. IMO Dems didn't have much of a choice as Republicans were failing to carry out their prescribed duties to openly and fairly discuss all opinions of all elected officals. So I see this as going both ways.

Counter question... If the public worker gets paid too much and they must be be lowered isn't this a form of communism? It in turn creates a stateless society where everyone is the same, and at the bottom. (Well except for the wealthy few so perhaps communism more akin to Russian society.) In this case everyone becomes the poor worker as removing wages for public workers drop their class down within the middle-class bracket or perhaps even out of the middle-class. Does gutting the middle-class in this way march us ever closer to a single class?

In the end this may not be a proper Tax but it's undoubtably taxing the families of the public worker.

Than after she put us to bed she went off to her {bleep} SECOND job because her teaching job paid SHIT. and she wanted to make sure we ate and got a good education. and she worked all summer. and never took a vacation.
