Boy have times changed. I miss the days when the USA was known for this.
 
CIA involvement in the Greek coup d'etat is not very likely I'm afraid. I assumed it was for years until I researched it only to find my assumption was most certainly wrong. Family members who lived through it also don't see a CIA link. The US did eventually back the military leaders (and by "back" I mean they did not openly oppose them) but that was mostly because of cold war necessity. It is however because of this "backing" that many tend to assume the US was involved from the start.
 
Don't we all share his sentiment, especially considering how much we criticise the US?
Of what? Romanticizing the past? Red's comment suggests there was a time when the US was in fact benevolent. I don't think it ever was.

It was when there was very little benevolence in Europe. (and I'm thinking 18th, 19th and early 20th century). I mean, before the coup that that has Kennedy killed.
I mean the time when a very rich aristocrat built a palace for peace in my country.
