Lakota Indians cancel treaties with U.S. gov’t

“We are no longer citizens of the United States,” said longtime indigenous rights activist Russell Means at a press conference at Plymouth Congregational Church in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 19. “We offer citizenship to anyone provided they renounce their U.S. citizenship,” said Mr. Means.

Again????

Oh, I see.

Yes, I remember this. Did anything come from that?

yeah... i know its an old article... i was looking for a place to move to... and i thought that might have potential... then it dawned on me that while it is good news that they dont have tsa scanners, dept of homeland security and uncle sugar all up in there business, it comes with bad news too, uncle sugar still has them surrounded... dang it... another dream dashed decidedly by democracy...

Good luck in moving there, less you can prove your Lakota (BIA ID card perhaps?) blood. Some how I doubt you are going to like the medical system on the reservations, run by BIA which means most go to the local ER to get real treatment. If you think the VA system is bad, it's paradise compared to what you find on reservations. Want to start a business on the reservation? That's 7 different permits that have to be approved.

Actually the VA system is one, if not the, sysem with the highest rating of customer satisfaction in the USA. For example in a 2008 survey they ranked 85% positive compared to the private industry of 77% positive. Whoda thunk that Vets love Socialized Medicine.
