If they are using public roads (day/night/rain/snow), they should have to displace the safety devices to avoid accidents. People driving vehicles deserve it. This is especially true during poor visibility and poor stopping conditions in order to avoid life threatening accidents. I can feel for those who want to live their lives as they consider God would want them to, but their use of public roads means they need to compromise for safety reasons. Too many have been killed over the decades before safety device was required on their buggies.

There's a good point. Why are they using public roads? Those aren't exactly natural.

Ya, but roads turned out to be convenient for Christ. It would have been much harder to carry that cross over rough terrain. Therefore, roads are good!

Well, the public road was probably built over the old paths they used to use. To their own minds, they're not so much using the road as suffering through our meddling, I'm sure.

But, having driven through Pennsylvania a few times... I agree with Dammy. Those buggies definitely need to have the mandated safety reflectors. While the mental picture a car and buggy collision seems almost humorous, the reality is they are all too often fatal.

much like many other americans they don't seem to understand what is good for them. they seem to want to "win" Darwin Awards rather than do the sensible thing.
