An Atheist Christmas message from Ricky Gervais

Let the politically correct celebration of the winter solstice festivities begin!

I decided to watch metalman's clip before the Gervais link because I figured I'd save the funny for last. (That was a pretty pathetic lineup of strawmen there, metalman, but I could see how some people might think it cleverish).

As it turns out, the Gervais link is not a humour piece, but was worth reading. In the UK it's always been easier to be an atheist than in North America. I'm glad to see the atheists coming out of the closet in North America now, though. It's refreshing and it gives all those closet atheists the nerve to perhaps be a little more open about their philosophy. There are even atheist clergy and preachers - though they tend not to come out to the general public as it does impact their income.

Still, we shouldn't hope for a world without religious people. Who would shovel our driveways or mow our lawns or clean our houses?

while I've always been an atheist, I've gotten to a point in my life where I feel I can say I am a PROUD atheist, and feel completely comfortable with that
