Although there was no expectation that the mercenary troops would be used for a stealth attack on Iran, Emirati officials talked of using them for a possible maritime and air assault to reclaim a chain of islands, mostly uninhabited, in the Persian Gulf that are the subject of a dispute between Iran and the U.A.E., the former employees said. Iran has sent military forces to at least one of the islands, Abu Musa, and Emirati officials have long been eager to retake the islands and tap their potential oil reserves.

yesterdays news, meet todays news...

It's only a matter of time. Iran was put on notice when it got included in the "Axis of Evil" speech back in 2002. Iraq was just a bit more tricky than they thought it would be (with lots of recriminations about whose fault it was and who stole what money from whom ... and then the economy tanked) and the time table had to be extended.

The 2012 elections are nearing, so is Iran's fate. But that will be Bush's fault, right?

No matter who the people vote for the government still gets in. It was Bush's fault for being the goofy mask on the face of the government when he was in the White House and was getting his strings pulled, and now it will be Obama's fault.
