Wasn't sure if this should go under entertainment, politics or technology, so I threw it into General:
Anonymous takes down Playstation website and Playstation Network
And it's about time. Well, I'm a PS3 owner so I am directly affected. I was just about to try out the SOCOM4 demo that I downloaded last night only to find I couldn't connect to PSN. Thought it was my dlink 655 acting up again, but it turns out it's just those wacky anarchists without a name: anonymous. I actually support this action, even though it takes away from my shooting and killing time (although I played battlefield BC2 for about an hour last night, so I should be ok for a while). Anon is really giving it to Sony as well, they're going after the top execs themselves and exposing all sorts of private info about them. Good. Not sure this will make a difference in the George Hotz case, but it will certainly hit them in the pocket book, along with some bad PR and of course some personal embarrassment and inconvenience. Anyway, perhaps now is a good time to try out the latest Assassin's Creed which I've had sitting in the wrapper for months...
