evidence suggests the foot was in the water for as long as a decade or longer.

But seriously, I've lived in Florida almost my entire life. Florida has more coastline than any US state, and probably any Canadian providence. In my lifetime I can only think of maybe once hearing about a body part washing ashore. I don't even remember if it was a foot or not. Florida has nearly 5 times the population of British Columbia, and obviously exponentially more people in the water at any time year round. Where I live is actually part of the the Bermuda Triangle.
