IMO the old 'Greed is good' line is the new bottom of the industry. There's far, far worse. The problem is when the rich are unethical their damage is much greater. It's because they have investments and control of so many, many more things than poor people.

I don't see anything wrong in principal with leaving no tip at all if the service isn't up to scratch.

That said, writing "get a real job" on the bill is the behaviour of an arsehole.
