... I have a feeling that somebody is. Wonder how much it cost.

That result is not surprising, Herman Cain was the most charismatic & articulate of those on the stage, and his message resonates with Tea Party members.

I'm sure his message has been thoroughly focus tested (perhaps by the same people that put together this focus group?).

But does the whole thing not strike you as a little ... staged? Or do the people you know talk like this in their daily lives.

These people sound profoundly like "TV people".

The clip you played does sound staged. Whether that was by design or by accident, I do not know.

I don't think it was designed to sound staged. :) I think any designer would rather it sounded natural.

A quick look at wikipedia indicates that he has plenty of qualifications including "former deputy chairman (1992–94) and chairman (1995–96) of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City." and he has said that there is no need to audit the Fed.

As to Luntz, the guy running this focus group, from the wiki once again:

"Luntz's current company, The Word Doctors, specializes in message creation and image management for commercial and political clients."

So how can we tell when he's just doing a focus group or when he's working "message creation" for a client?

Ok, he is a criminal.
