if Clear Channel's ever really investigated...
...
then they're gonna be doomed.
I was on their payroll once, for about a year. They bought out a radio network I was working for. They were basically buying the owner's client list, because after about a year they downsized all of us, moved the network to Oklahoma, and misled listeners into thinking it was still done locally. And I believe a few months after that it disappeared entirely.
Anyway, our dealings with Clear Channel were pretty awful. The owner used to call my boss and tell him racist jokes all the time (this also happened at another radio station with Rush Limbaugh's people), and they were always running scams. One scam Clear Channel did was, they weren't allowed to own more than X number of stations in any market, so what they'd do was, buy up more stations than were legal, but run them as a "Hispanic radio congolmerate." It was still Clear Channel - they just registered another name and bought stations under it, to get around the limitations. If the FCC had ever gotten wind of it, Clear Channel would have been in huge trouble... But, they did stuff like that all the time. They're one of the most corrupt companies in the U.S.
