In the other "Osama's dead" thread someone asked how the Republicans will react, to which one replied that Republicans will be very happy with the news. Which of course they will, but at the same time, the picture posted here by feathor illustrates how silly the republicans have been behaving all this time. If anything, all this nonsense about birth certificates has done nothing but distract the president from real work. Luckily, they weren't too successful at that.

And all I have to say on this: It took a Democrat to do a Republican's job.

What a ridiculous statement.

Yes, absolutely ridiculous.

Preposterous, even.

:whack:

well, it took an Intelligent person to get the job done. instead of a moron who about 6 months after 9-11 said in public (I'm sure there are all sorts of videos around to find) that he was no longer thinking about bin ladin  and that he wasn't important

yeah, tell that to the thousands of people who spontaneously congregated around WTC and Times Square - not to mention the White House about 5 minutes after we heard there was going to be an announcement from the President. I heard that bin ladin was dead around 10:45 Sunday evening. We switched to news and five/ten minutes later cameras were showing crowds gathering. and they were YELLING in JOY! this wasn't just people milling about. They had gone to these sites because they were Overflowing with emotion and had to share it with whoever else was around.

Yes, New Yorkers - among others - have been holding their breath for 10 years. I'm not saying everything is fine...that's not the point. I am saying that at least this bastard did NOT just get away with murder. He finally was held accountable. And Obama did this brilliantly. Everything was carefully thought out. (something bush would never be able to do). And when the decision had to be made to either go for a bombing (which wouldn't ensure that the "target" would actually be confirmed and other homes in the neighborhood could be damaged) Obama made that bold choice to do a surgical operation. Get bin ladin, get any other data lying around that compound, confirm the target, get out and let justice be done.

and if anyone doesn't appreciate how brilliant this was done they can go {bleep} themselves. Today I am proud to be an American

The only one I see complaining are a few Candians expressing what Republicans should feel. Obama acted as commander in chief and got the job done.

I am but one Canadian and I don't give a monkey's about Republicans' feelings. I have only talked about the political quandry it leaves the Republican Party in (but for some reason you seem to be taking things so personally you can't see this).

............waterboarding and other abusive techniques failed to get the name out of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and Abu Faraj al-Libbi. A New York Times account has both men claiming not to know even the courier’s nom de guerre, which actually may have counted as a kind of confirmation by omission in this case. That says something about the limits of brute force in interrogation.

President Obama even joked with reporters about his fondness for tgolf saying -- quote -- "I'm not spending time on the golf course, I'm investing time in the golf course."

This is Obama’s 66th time golfing as president and his eighth outing in 2011

The raid to kill Osama Bin Laden may have cut short President Obama’s Sunday golf to only 9 holes, as he rushed back to the White House to watch Dick Cheney's assassination squad kill bin laden on the big screen.

The White House has released the menu for President Obama's Assassination party

- Bratwurst
- Kielbasa
- Cheeseburgers
- Deep Dish Pizza
- Buffalo Wings
- German Potato Salad
- Twice Baked Potatoes
- Snyders Potato Chips and Pretzels
- Chips and Dips
- Salad
- Ice Cream

As for the beer, Obama offered a selection of: Yuengling Lager and Light, Hinterland Pale Ale and Amber Ale, or White House Honey Ale

Enhanced Interrogations Led to Bin Laden Kill: Senator
http://www.cnbc.com/id/42871400
A member of the US Senate Intelligence Committee has told CNBC that the death of Osama Bin Laden was a direct result of enhanced interrogations.

“The information that eventually led us to this compound was the direct result of enhanced interrogations; one can conclude if we had not used enhanced interrogations, we would not have come to yesterday's action,” US Senator Richard Burr in a telephone interview with CNBC.

more information coming out, President "Present" couldn't make a decision, what happened is described as “masterful manipulation” of Obama, by Leon Panetta.

"What Valerie Jarrett, and the president, did not know is that Leon Panetta had already initiated a program that reported to him –and only him, involving a covert on the ground attack against the compound."

President Obama was literally pulled from a golf outing and escorted back to the White House to be informed of the mission.

Panetta, Clinton, Gates, hereby promoted to Sith lords!

Bush didn't stop his guitar tour when 1700+ Americans died in Katrina why should Obama stop for 1 foreign terrorist?

Rumsfeld states there was no waterboarding of the source of information.

Rummy says - "The United States Department of Defense did not do waterboarding for interrogation purposes to anyone. It is true that some information that came from normal interrogation approaches at Guantanamo did lead to information that was beneficial in this instance. But it was not harsh treatment and it was not waterboarding."

The question here is who do we trust more. Some anonymous source or Rumsfeld who was a strong backer of enhanced interrogation but willing to step up and put a face on public record that it wasn't enhanced interrogation that obteined this information?

Wired Mag description on how the information was obtained. Clearly it was not waterboarding.

First there was joy, then there was adulation and grudging respect.

Now here comes another instalment of the pay-off.
