I find the whole event interesting as a point against the conspiracy theorists out there. Various conspiracy believers think that we won't know about world devasting events until after they happen. 'No government is going to tell us about that oncoming asteroid that'll destroy humanity.' Yet when a virus that an estimated 2% are likely immune to and has the potential to wipe a good majority off the planet is created by man, it's info is released? Or, like recently, a scientist that's working on a virus that is specific to blacks is arrested it's released. When the facts fly in the face of the conspiracy advocates it's hard to take them seriously.
 
I didn't read this article, but others on the subject have said the current experiments are done in level 3 bio labs. I find that odd, you'd think such a strain should be on the same level as Ebola (L4) which is far less likely to wipe out ~90% of the world population. I'm guessing certain experiments are easier to do in a L3, but still...
