More and more, today's video game business is driven by huge military shooters like Activision's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" and Electronic Arts' "Battlefield 3."

An FPS based on Kinect? My prediction: epic fail.

This isn't the first game to feature mercs as the protagonist. One of my favorite role playing games ever was Jagged Alliance, where of course you, along with a bunch of other mercs that you hire, go to some poor 3rd world country and try to "save" it. And I just did a quick google and it turns out THQ is coming out with another installment in the series: JA: Back In Action. Hope it doesn't suck.

As for Modern Warfare 2, well, I can't say I liked that game a whole lot. And The Russian level, where you shoot civilians, was pretty darned stupid and unnecessary. Clearly a case of controversy for the sake of sales. I had a hard time getting through that level, ended up losing because I kept shooting the terrorists. Which reminds me of another game: America's Army. I tried that for a while too, but never got past the "boot camp" as I kept shooting the drill instructor in the face. The US army probably took note of that. Oh well.

But Battlefield rocks, so I'll be getting BF3 no matter what. :D

I played America's Army for a long time, boot camp wasn't all that hard, although to be fair when I went back to the game after a lengthy spell of not playing I found that they'd changed it all and actually increased the difficulty by quite a bit.

Still, fun times on dnaf.
