"soda pop"

When Yosemite Sam burst through the doors of an Old West saloon, he routinely asked for a "sasparilly, and make it snappy!" he was asking for a root beer "soda pop" made from the root of the sarsaparilla plant.

In the eastern US sassafras root was used to make root beer

ginger ale and cream soda's where the first types of "soda pops" made using beer yeast

Citrus soda drinks were not made until compressed CO2 became available, citric acid killed the beer yeast

Strangely I assumed everyone knew why MN has the strange jog into Canada. But, as I live here it was probably bias built on many people being more curious about their own 'backyards' than anything else.

As for 'Soda Pop' - It's pop. Also the game is Duck, Duck, Grey Duck. Not goose as some would have you believe.
