Britain is back in recession, according to the latest unwelcome forecast from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

The UK economy shrank at an annual rate of 1.2 per cent in the final three months of 2011 and will contract by 0.4 per cent in the first quarter of this year, it said. Two successive quarters of economic contraction is the technical definition of a recession.

hmm, lovely.

and how are you doing??

If you think it's bad now, just wait another 9 to 12 months when gas nearly doubles. How much is 93 octane per liter in the UK now?

We don't use 93 octane fuel, ours starts at 95 and goes onto 97 and 99.

And it's around £1.45 a litre atm and around £1.50 for diesel.

Wow, that's $8.779 in the US per gallon. Bet when the fecal matter hits the rotating air foil, you will see around £2.25 a liter if not higher with shortages.

Around 50% of that price is fuel duty, which we're told will be lowered should fuel prices start to rise in the manner you're suggesting.

That said, I doubt it'll double, even over the course of 12 months.
