Since the western world is extremely sensitive to LGBT issues around the world such that they can have a giant wobbly-fit at even mild laws like the Russian one making it illegal to tell children about the "gay option" the same way it's illegal to tell children about the bestiality option and the paedophilia option while not actually making it a crime to be gay or have gay sex, obviously the world would be up in arms about the new law in Uganda that criminalizes homosexuality and imposes lengthy prison terms for consensual homosexual acts.
Fire up the browser - look at the headlines on the news sites. Hmm. Well, most of the sites it looks like it's not top news so lets go to the "World" section. Ah yes. There is a smattering of the story.

Aha! Number 12. Still, about the tabloid not the law, but there you go. Somewhat less important to the world than a new Jeff Goldblum film but...

Hmm. Well, it's not there so it can't be important at all because everyone knows that Fox is the only news organization that is fair and balanced.
So there you have it. Rest assured, LGBT community, the North American media has got your back and a ready to raise a stink at the merest hint of anti-gayness. I'm sure the news would have presented things pretty much the same way if it had been Putin putting people in jail for failing to inform the authorities of anyone they know who might be gay instead of the government of Uganda doing it.
