Canadians Ditch Kyoto Protocol

Global+Warming+Hype.gif

In a move that was at least partially expected from Steven Harper's Conservative government, Canada has chosen to exercise her right to withdraw from the global warming scam's centerpiece 'acheivement' to this point, the 1997 Kyoto agreement... they are first nation to do so:

"Kyoto, for Canada, is in the past, and as such we are invoking our legal right to withdraw from Kyoto," (Canadian Environment Minister Peter Kent) said in Toronto.

He said he would be formally advising the United Nations of his country's intention to pull out.

(Kent) said the cost of meeting Canada's obligations under Kyotowould cost $13.6bn (10.3bn euros; £8.7bn): "That's $1,600 from every Canadian family - that's the Kyoto cost to Canadians, that was the legacy of an incompetent Liberal government".

While he do go on to say that the Canadians are open to an a new international agreement, they would insist upon one that can allow them to grow and create jobs... and the Chinese would have to be involved as well. In other words, there's never going to be any new agreement... and the Harper administration is perhaps simply playing good politics: why rub the collapse of Kyoto in the face of Canada's green Left just to humiliate them- they've done a plenty good job of that all by themselves.

So the fraud-fueled global warming scam is coming off the rails, as reality hits hard at last... Fear you may be an unreformed, delusional warmist yourself?

The title should read: Republic of Harperland quits Kyoto climate pact.

This is no real surprise. Governments have continued to disagree on the approach. Unlike those who want to believe this is somehow a worldwide conspiracy to control the world.

Glaucus, I'm sure that you and McDeath have already sent your $1600.00 contribution to the Kyoto Protocol for this year's dues haven't you? If you ask nicely, maybe they will give it back.

Somehow though, I just don't think they have received your checks yet.

Faethor, they will accept your money too. :D

There is a simple answer here but one that's politically impossible. Take back your tax dollar that has used for coups and wars. This has gone on for at least 1/2 a century, since the first US sponsored coup in Iran. Take back your tax dollar that has been used to prop up oil companies. There's no need to government fund a mature and the most profitable industry in the history of the world. Instead start paying for some of the damage this has caused. For example, we have no idea how long localized fishing economies will be damaged in the Gulf due to the oil spills. Taking care of problems one has created is a little something I call responsibility.

The "costs" are not real costs as such, but impacts to the power of certain interests. If I make my home more efficient then it costs me up front but saves me on the tail end - but it "costs" the oil and gas industry and the people that own it. My benefit is their cost.

Soon it may all be moot. Man has been the most significant contributor to green house gases for the last few decades, but nature looks set to step back in as number one - and in a big way. A man can start an avalanche, but he can't stop one.

That's OK, we'll just burn it

Well, I don't suppose you can begrudge old mother nature one long, heartfelt fart after all we've put her through.
