Thoughts and condolences with the workers and families.

It always seems so bizarre that a lumber mill is more likely to explode than a fireworks factory... It just doesn't make sense in our brains that some dust from a harmless piece of wood could do that. But the truth is that even today the lumber mills are still terribly dangerous places to work. :(

I heard about this last night in lodge. One of the members has family up in Prince George and everyone knows someone who works at that place up there, so he raised the issue. We'll be looking at coordinating what assistance we can through the lodge up in Prince George. I think he knew some people who were in the lunch room when the walls stove in. Apparently 2 are dead now.

According to the news it's the second mill to go boom in four months. Some people blame the fact that we've been cutting beetle killed trees lately, which are drier than the usual stock that goes through the mills. That's open for debate but the government has decided to step up inspections which is against their nature because the current lot are of the philosophical leaning that the markets should decide which mills blow up and which don't.

Not sure:

Thermobaric explosions, very deadly. Bakeries were known to go up in similar style. You'd think proper ventilation would be a quick fix.
