Canada to revoke citizenship from 3,100 people

Canada doesn't, Harper does.

Actually, that's probably not entirely straightforward and completely fair to say. Harper is definitely the instigator or at least conduit for this policy but I remember a public opinion survey going around a few months back. I kind of had a feeling this was coming. They obviously got enough license from that survey to do what they are doing.

Funny. This is at least the third government survey that I have participated in. The other two were paid focus groups. Funny how sometimes you get a sense of who the customer is when you're there - but it seems to take so long before it shows up in public.

I have to admit I gamed this one a little when I saw it coming. First I wasn't paid for my time, and second, while I'm not sure an anti-immigrant policy will hurt Harper, a sufficient number of years of no immigration could reduce the natural tension between immigrants and natives that helps to support authoritarian regimes by keeping the people fighting amongst themselves.

I don't really think that I have much pull with just my answers in the survey, and I don't think that we will run out of things to fight about, but who knows. Now, if Quebec separates this time ...
