Steampunk art is now terrorism, according to the TSA

Via David Burkhead (who noted that about steampunk), the TSA has now taken to arresting people with artsy homemade watches and shoes. The nitwits at the Oakland airport said a man’s artistic watch could be used to make a timing device for a bomb.
Um . . . any watch could be used for that — especially digital ones. The watch in question here, as my friend suggests, was probably some form of steampunk – a sort of 19th century, Jules Verne style of fashion and design that the hamburger clerks hired as “security” surely have never heard of.
This is not grounds for taking a man’s freedom.

as I've mention MANY times I am (seriously) boycotting flying for this and similar reasons.

and artists being treated like criminals is hardly new. That's just old hat. It's a fact that artist get shit on before most other people and when we warn the rest of society we just get laughed at. Then the rest of you get piled on with shit.

told ya so.....

Yeah.... Ugh. I'm so sick of the retarded "security theater" going on at airports. This stuff doesn't make us secure. It makes us more compliant toward jackboots.

The only way I'll be on an airplane anytime soon is if I need to go somewhere I can't drive (leave North America) or on a small private plane, like to a lodge. No commercial flights for me, thanks.
