One of the pastors, Rachel Holmes, told our reporter, Shatila, who is a genuine HIV sufferer, they had a 100% success rate.
"We have many people that contract HIV. All are healed."
She said if symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhoea persist, it is actually a sign of the virus leaving the body.
"We've had people come back before saying 'Oh I'm not healed. The diarrhoea I had when I had HIV, I've got it again.' I have to stop them and say 'no, please, you are free.'"

SCOAN told our reporters they would be able to discard their medication after their healing and that they would be free to start a family.

Jesus Christ!! I'm going to be ill...

On the one hand I feel sorry for the people who died (earlier than they would have) as a tragedy, but I can't understand why people would listen to these people and go off their drugs which are so much more effective than they were a few years ago. On the other hand, if people are that stupid, what can you do? Should we really be wasting resources on saving them?

But what is truly alarming is that once the drugs are stopped, viral load can increase again to infectious levels and how many innocent people have been exposed due to these pastors and their foolish faithful?

Perhaps the pastors should prove their belief in their healing abilities by voluntarily taking a blood transfusion from a "cured" patient. That should put an end to it right away - one way or another.

EDIT: Isn't it funny that Christianity just can't handle HIV/AIDS? First, back when it was considered a gay disease, they were happy to see AIDS/HIV spread as they saw it as a cure for the "homosexual" problem. Now, they see Christianity as the only viable cure for the disease. It's amazing what anxiety can make people do.

Desperation doesn't exactly make for a good foundation for rational thought. These pastors are just another in a long line of very nasty groups who have developed effective techniques for playing on the desperates fears.

Consider this case from late last year.

Desperate != stupid.

All you can do is to fight these snake oil pedallers when you come across them.

Prosecute them for manslaughter, anything more risks making martyrs out of them.
