When Code Pink showed up at a Bush presidential speech and heckled, the media gave them hero status, now their "rude"???
She never did say who gave her the invitation
Normally Medea Benjamin shows up with three or four compatriots, and she doesn't shut up. They never shut up. They keep shouting. They throw things, pink underwear, pink bras, whatever ... , until security come and drags them them out.
But in this case she actually shuts up! After Obama asked her to be quiet and let him finish, she actually shut up. Somebody had to give her a ticket in there. She doesn't get in there by accident. She was in there because Obama wanted her there, the whole thing was staged.
OBAMA: "You know, I think that the -- and I'm going off script, as you might expect here. (laughter) The voice of that woman is worth paying attention to."

I think it demonstrates how the Press has indeed moved to the right-wing. If the press was 'liberal' they'd be discussing their right of free speech to press disagreement and protest in our Constitution. Instead they're name calling and demanding decorum. But, again our Constitution says no such thing.
The President is elected to serve the population. As such when a public speech is given all should have access.
While I may disagree with their methods I will defend until death their right to say it.
BINGO! 'We the People' form the nation. The role of elected officials are our Representatives. If they don't stop and listen to ALL the people they won't know how we wish to be Represented.
The press, in their right-wing wisdom, are attacking the messenger and ignoring the message. She made good points.

Jesus is not the Bible, nor is the Old Testament the words of Jesus and whatever Paul said to the Thessalonians is what Paul said, not what Jesus said. Why don't you support your assertions about what Jesus thought by quoting Jesus?

The ultra right-wing Americans love this shit. Nothing better than the inappropriate guilt by association. What we see instead is Obama carrying none of that out in his office. He's got 2 years yet, if the Black Liberation Theology is going to spread across the Country he's got his work cut out for him. The statement is true the sentiment and implications are jackshit.
Actually Jesus said pretty much squat about how nations should run on earth. He certainly said to pay Rome what is due Rome and worry about your rewards in heaven instead. Along with that Jews were in slaved and he didn't bother to condemn that system. Which is therefore can be seen as tacit support of slavery by God.
If you were a good Christian you'd be following the words of Christ and selling all your earthly belongings, supporting your brothers and following Jesus. Not so strangely Christians in the USA collect wealth and try to excuse it as 'God's Blessings on them'. They don't get Jesus said what to do is turn those blessing into support of your fellow man. Truth is most modern Christians are hypocrites not unlike the Pharisees.

Joining a religion is voluntary. Government law is not.
God save us from those who believe in "no god" but but are obsessed with turning the government into their religious charity

We live in a 'Christian' dominate society. Where many seem to think the answer 'cuz my God says so' is an acceptable and untouchable reason for their action. So when Christians step up and tell me how 'good' they are the first question they face from me is demonstrate you're living life the way your Christ described. Turns out few Christians have bothered to read the text of their lives. Even fewer live it.
Fairness, justice, equality before the law, right of self determination, and reason are progressive ideas that are only bizarre if one fails to realize the USA was created out of the Age of Enlightenment.
These are certainly bizarre to Christians as it's not the way their faith works.

Most of the charity in government has been created by and passed by Christians, not non-religious types. Read your history for the vast majority of the last 200+ years the US has been run by Old White Christian Men.
And I agree the government has too much 'charity'. (Don't worry we'll disagree where the problem resides.) Charity for the wealthy outstrips charity for the poor by 2:1. I don't mind giving money to help the poor in our society. (Now we can argue what % of that are really poor) What I do mind, and is the greater immorality, is giving money to help the wealthy in our society. Let's start with the big spending, Corporate Welfare, cut that off over the next few years. It always amazes me that most 'Christian's' complain about helping the poor but say jackshit about giving more to the rich. Giving more to the rich is hands down against Christ's words.
It actually doesn't. Jesus says it's more likely for a camel to enter through the eye of a need than a rich man to enter heaven. Jesus says if someone asks for your shirt then you are to give him your coat as well. Christ's idea of charity far exceeds a 10% limit as he asks you to devote your life to it.
A tithe is a Judaic and Islamic concept from the Old Testament. The first Christian churches changed to 'free will' offerings, as they're closer to Jesus's words. They were expecting people would live as Jesus stated. That failed so the churches started up the tithe program again and added payment for indulgencies.
(Oh and BTW - Libertarianism and Jesus' words are incompatible. Heck even Ayn Rand knew this and rejected Christianity because it excessively cared about others and not enough of one's self. )
