Actually, they predicted that last winter would be one of the coldest. They also predicted that this summer would be very wet. Even though I hoped they'd be wrong on both accounts, they were bang on. And that was predicted by the same scientists that predict that long term global warming/climate change.
Btw, there aren't too many scientists that dispute global warming/climate change. It's the causes of it that's mostly in dispute. Overall, the Earth is getting warmer despite the recent trend of lower solar output. And in fact, it's probably gonna continue: Livingston and Penn - Sunspots may vanish by 2015. This may mean that we need the extra carbon in the atmosphere to counter the upcoming ice age? But then, how will we get rid of it when it's over? Hmmm....
