Argggh - run for the hills... the ATHEISTS are coming.

Still growing and coming on strong or more likely just becoming more outspoken. The year 2000 came and went, nothing happened, the religious have lost some steam and the unreligious have found some. Many people actually don't believe in the fairy tales that many call religion but they find it easier to close their eyes, put their hands together and mouth the words so as not to rock the boat - you know - Emperor's New Clothes kind of thing.

The internet is probably helping to. The more diverse your knowledge the less likely you are to be religious. Heck, even Mother Teresa died an unbeliever and even John Paul II is said to have lost his faith.

This new pope blames atheists for all sorts of evil so his vitriolic lambastements are probably indicative of another cloistered atheist. :)

This guy on the other hand: not an atheist.

Most stories I've found lately either omit entirely how it was he drew suspicion to himself or simply state that he had brought Jaycee and her kids out to distribute pamphlets or flyers. It seems the kind of pamphlets distributed has been tactfully dropped from the stories.

What kind of pamphlets?
Garrido came to the attention of law enforcement when he was passing out religious pamphlets at University of California, Berkeley.

Neighbors also noted that Garrido had a penchant for wandering the neighborhood distributing religious tracts and quoting Bible verse

A couple of years after 9/11 happened there was a survey of 'fear' of beliefs. Within the US the 2nd most feared religion is Islam. The first fear, isn't actually a religion, are atheists.

Many, perhaps most, Christians seem to forget --- "The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion”- George Washington
