I'll award a shiny nickel to anyone besides Wayne who can tell me why I posted this! Nah, just kidding!

Crystal River Mayor Total: 551
Jim Farley 257 -46.60%
Phillip W. Price 198 -35.90%
Keith M. Shewbart 96 -17.40%

My father is now mayor of a small city in Central West Florida. I could never see him in politics and neither could he until a few years ago.

You'll have to fill us in on the inside scoop about politics now. Let us know when he is offered his first bribe. :)

Let us know when he is offered his first bribe.
Likely that was during the campaign. I give you X and if you win you do Y.

Hahaha, but not. Hate to disappoint you (jk) but he has made enemies over the years for refusing to bow to the old boy network of the area. Keep in mind he is from a career of law enforcement, by the book and unblemished.

And congratulations, and good on him.

It's at least refreshing to hear about this happening, at least in small towns. And a vote total of 551, is a VERY small town. I bet most, if not all, of those 257 votes for him came from people who knew him personally. An honest man can still do okay in that type of environment. It's the last place things still "work."

We've got a few good guys local here, too. And I thought I lived in a small city (even though it's a suburb now, it existed as a separate city before the urban sprawl from Detroit caught it and surrounded...) But, by comparison, there were more than 600 votes in my precinct alone, and there are 11 precincts in town.
