Before they are charged?

As people were arrested, they were taken in large groups to the Ron Cochran Public Safety Complex in Fort Lauderdale. There they sat in chairs waiting to be "debriefed," or asked whether they had knowledge of past area crimes.

"When you take 200 people who primarily are in the criminal world, they usually have information on other things that are occurring," Fondo said. "And it gives us good information to go forward on cases."

Investigators also collected DNA samples, factoring in the possibility that such samples could link someone to a past rape case.

Am I the only person who has a problem with police taking DNA samples from people who have yet to be charged with any crime?

nope....................

unless these women were raped and they are willing (their choice) to be part of future investigations helping THEM gain some justice.

Standard practice now in the UK is to take DNA from everyone arrested, regardless of outcome.
