That you see these two as similar strikes me as bizarre.

Glenn Beck comes across as about as far removed from Ron Paul as it's possible to be.

Ron Paul seems like a calm, collected man with strong principles. (Many of which I disagree with but it takes all sorts...)
Gleen Beck comes across as a shrill, hypocritical, ranting arsehole with no apparent principles other than "anything vaguely 'Democrat' is eeeeevvviiiill!"

I didn't say they are similar. They are both Republican and they both have their strong principles. About Beck, if all you hear is selective sound clips
in the liberal media, you won't get a real picture of the man.

The liberal media? I'm guessing you watch for reactions about Beck on international media then, because as has been pointed out so many times it's ceased to be funny - there is no such thing as a liberal media in the US.

Beck's method of interviewing people by putting them in the position of defending themselves from sometimes quite horrific accusations is disgusting.

I think this site explains the problem with his technique quite succinctly.

Glenn Beck is not affiliated with the Republican party; he describes himself as an independent, he has a libertarian (small L) / populist philosophy.

When I saw a post by Metalman I must admit I wasn't expecting this. Certainly from what I've read about him and from what I've watched of him, this definition fits quite nicely.

The guy is an american real life version of Lewis Prothero.
