yes there is an audio clip... :D

Conservatives are not taking the plummeting political fortunes of Massachusetts millionaire Mitt Romney well.
Right wing talk radio hosts are mounting a full-on campaign to tell their listeners to ignore polls showing President Obama surging ahead of Romney both at the state and national level. Top tier hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin are trying to pull their devoted followers out of a funk.
On Levin’s show on Wednesday night, the far right host can be heard attempting to buck up a despondent caller about Romney’s election prospects.
Levin explained to the man that “this is the kick-ass hotline” and not one for “suicide,” then Levin pushed the caller to repeat the mantra “we will” in a scene that could have been ripped directly from a self-help group.

I'm laughing at both sides for now. Polls are useless (IMO) until two weeks before the election. Yesterday several polls had Obama and Romney tied. Today Obama is ahead by 1 point. Everything is within the margin of error so until the first debate concludes and the spin doctors weigh in, this is all just "noise". Move along, nothing to see here... yet. ;-)

Except the polls that have Obama way out in front. Gallup has him 6 points ahead and Washington Times has Obama 9 points ahead. But polls are a game. If the polls stay close then more funds can be raised, so expect close polls to be pointed at more often. Plus, it makes things look less suspicious if a few voting machines go rogue on the day and flip things about.

Even Fox News has Obama out front by 5 points.

Lee, I'd love to think the debates will do something. However, they won't. They don't change the polling numbers. What results is about the same % flip either way or no flip at all.

It'll be interesting to see Mitt's debating style. In the Primaries he ignored the opponents and attacked Obama. Well, you can't ignore the opponent this time. It's too bad the debates are more theatre than anything else. I'd love to see a real Oxford Style debate. I doubt that'll be what it is.

A Pollster under oath

Under oath, Hickman admitted that in the final weeks of Edwards's 2008 bid, Hickman cherry-picked public polls to make the candidate seem viable, promoted surveys that Hickman considered unreliable, and sent e-mails to campaign aides, Edwards supporters and reporters which argued that the former senator was still in the hunt —even though Hickman had already told John Edwards privately that he had no real chance of winning the Democratic nomination.

"I didn't necessarily take any of these as for—as you would say, for the truth of the matter. I took them more as something that could be used as propaganda for the campaign," the veteran pollster said.

Most polling until 2 weeks before the election is push polling, then right before the election the newspaper polls start trying to get it right, so they don't look like total idiots after the election. Any poll that doesn't publish its internals, is pure bovine excrement

For some reason all these current polls projecting a big Obama lead are oversampling the donkeys?!? pure propaganda

ROFL
so your predicting that Romney will ignore the Libertarian and Green party candidates and Only Attack Obama ?!?

Since, neither Libertarian nor Green Party candidates are part of the debate (which is a crockoshit btw) there is no one to ignore. To use a recent characterization created by the RNC Mitt did a Clint Eastwood attack on an empty chair. He didn't focus on the points in the room. It's easy to create strawmen and debate them when the opponent isn't there. It'll be interesting to see how Mitt handles an actual real opponent.

From the wikipedia page on the League of Women Voters:
The League sponsored the Presidential debates in 1976, 1980 and 1984.[2] On October 2, 1988, the LWV's 14 trustees voted unanimously to pull out of the debates, and on October 3 they issued a dramatic press release:[3]
The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates...because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public.
—League President Nancy M. Neuman, LWV October 03, 1988

Debates are now run by the Commission on Presidential Debates, a BIPARTISAN non-profit.
In 1988, the League of Women Voters withdrew its sponsorship of the presidential debates after the George H.W. Bush and Michael Dukakis campaigns secretly agreed to a "memorandum of understanding" that would decide which candidates could participate in the debates, which individuals would be panelists (and therefore able to ask questions), and the height of the podiums. The League rejected the demands and released a statement saying that they were withdrawing support for the debates because "the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter."[5]

Watch No Debate. No, seriously, watch it to see a very interesting clip comparing the position of the two candidates at the debate in 2008 on the bailout and then the opinions of three excluded party candidates.

We onto contraception now?:

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I see nothing wrong here. ;-)

In all seriousness, have a "disaster cache" isn't a bad idea IMHO. I keep a 3 day kit for loss of power, etc... and after last year's tornados went through the area, my cache grew to a 7 day supply and now includes a generator to preserve my refrigerator contents and charge batteries.

As for firearms... well, everyone here knows my position on that. ;-)

The best "weapon" is one you never have to use. Better to have and not need vs. the alternative...

Nothing wrong at all Lee. Lefties' TV betrays them. If/when the shit hits the fans, they are helpless. I've seen it first hand having lives through 9 hurricanes. After Wilma it was very ugly within 2 days. I was prepared, most weren't and were out in the streets yelling for gov handouts. The reserves were out and about handing out MREs to democrats. Pretty sad really.

Very sensible approach, especially with the potential weather where you live.

Our weather on the West coast of Scotland is consistently dull, driech and pish but almost never dangerous. I also live near the centre of the largest city in Scotland so my emergency supplies generally consist of a few frozen meals and some cold beer. :pint:

We too have about a week of supplies. Loss of power though would be loss of the well pump. So, we're lacking there. Everyone should be prepared for a semi-large minor weather event.

two 22s, one 20gauge, one black powder pistol. Good enough for basic uses. Like taking out the grose or deer that travel through the property. If anyone things they're taking on the numbers and size of a military that's crazy talk. At best you might take out a couple before they take you out.

10,000 people died in Greensburg!
(population 1400)

RICHMOND, Va. -
"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died -- an entire town destroyed," the Democratic presidential candidate said in a speech to 500 people packed into a sweltering Richmond art studio for a fundraiser.
Obama mentioned the disaster in Greensburg, Kan., in saying he had been told by the office of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius that the state's National Guard had been depleted by its commitment to the Iraq War.
"Turns out that the National Guard in Kansas only had 40 percent of its equipment and they are having to slow down the recovery process in Kansas," Obama said, his shirt sleeves rolled up and his head glistening with sweat.

( actually 12 were killed )

if the Kansas Guard didn't have enough equipment it was due to Sebelius's incompetence of not planning for tornadoes in Kansas
