Dems ask for a 25% cut in the military

No shit... Seriously though, both in the USA and UK defence companies have grown ever more inefficient and unproductive, supplying equipment that either is so costly to produce and maintain that they'll never see a battlefield or in such low numbers not make a difference. Or worse, cost significantly more than what they replace whilst doing a lot less.

I don't like war, I do however accept that it is sometimes necessary. That being the case supplying those on the business end of it with overpriced tat and crippling the economy to do it is unjustifiable no matter how you view it.

and it should be more...but this is a start.

I'm sick and tired of letting scum like cheney and haliburton make a profit over the dead bodies of human beings

Not disagreeing with your premise, but Haliburton stands to profit from a reduced US military - they are after all the ones who offer to fill the gaps of US military might with contractors.

Personally, I'd much rather the US did away with armed contractors and stuck with the military for it's fighting needs.

Indeed, the mercenary outfits like Blackwater are an abomination.

Yes, mercenaries. The word contractor makes them sound respectable.

I go the impression that was why the bush administration used that term, so as to suggest non military contracting jobs such as engineers etc
