Well, Detroit did it. Back out of Chapter 9 bankruptcy, and Kevin Orr resigned. Detroit is now fully under recently elected Mayor Duggan's control. Less about $7 billion of bad debt. And now with a somewhat reasonable City Council and a few less previously appointed cronies.
I know there were a lot of people unhappy with the emergency takeover of Detroit. But, honestly, ask anyone around southeast Michigan, and they'll likely tell you it's the best thing that has happened around here in decades. There is still a ton of work to be done... But it's pretty incredible to see the progress.
