... safe from the threat of not paying to watch TV shows. Phew. Thank goodness they are doing such a fine job - tax money well spent.
(You won't be seeing government spending being cut much in that department).

what the heck does this have to do with Homeland Security????

Shameful if true
It's true, very true

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has seized and shut down several dozen websites, p2p torrent tracking websites, that are suspected of facilitating or violating copyright infringement.

Sites that are barred by ICE carry a Prohibition-style label in place of content that reads “This domain named has been seized by ICE, Homeland Security Investigations.”

In the past anti-piracy and copy right laws were enforced by the FBI. ICE needs something to do since apprehension of illegals is not a priority anymore (US attorneys no longer show up at deportation hearings). ICE needs something to do popular within the Obama administration, so it is now enforcing intellectual property rights.

The ICE enforcement began when the Combating Online Infringements and Counterfeits Act (COICA), was introduced as legislation in the Senate, Its sponsor is Sen. Pat Leahy (D-VT) who has received $885,216 in contributions from the TV, movie and music industries. That's probably just a coincidence.

COICA Bill combating web piracy would give AG power to trample First Amendment Rights

Politicians shouldn't be identified as D(emocrat) or R(epublican) but B(ought) or ... well, I can't think of what the other designation would be but I think there are only a couple of politicians that could wear the other label so it's not real urgent.

Yep, total bullshit. End result will be that new technologies will come about that don't require a central domain name server. Once that happens DHS will have a harder time tracking actual bad guys. But by the looks of it, they seem more interested this type of bullshit.
