Drug companies are anti-science

Drugs seem safer if no-one is looking for harm. When drugs either don't work or even do harm then it can really impact the bottom line - and yet people assume that we have systems in place to make sure that drugs are safe and effective. Even when we DO have such systems, they are often underfunded and sometimes killed.
