Otherwise known as the Minister of Justice, Joris Demmink. Knowing nothing more than what I've just watched I can't really say assess the legitimacy of the claims (but I'm happy to shameless pass them on without checking the veracity).

Any comment from anyone here who is more Dutch than me?

looks like the catholic church is getting competition

Demmink has never been a minister, he's been the leading official on the justice department from 1982 to 2012. He is retired now.
Atm, there is not a big press coverage about it, but big newspapers do write about it here and there over the years, but no real evidence came up until two wardens came up with testimonies.
It's all a bit much to translate here, though, but it all seems to me, also considering the case with Docters van Leeuwen, leading officials have way too much power in this country.

It's a power thing - the fact that the catholic church has been paying for its scandals is merely a symptom of its loss of power. To clean out the corruption the high places need to be torn down, the high must be brought low, the mighty humbled. It's quite obvious that while the power structure remains intact the people on top cannot be prosecuted no matter what their crime.

I'd be surprised if there weren't a disproportionate number of pedos and pervs in the upper echelons, and I bet PRISM has a big file on each of them - not to prosecute them, of course, but to threaten to prosecute them with.

Leading officials tend to have too much power in most countries, and the fist thing they do when they get the power is use it to get more power. That's been very visible in the US as the White House has taken more and more power to itself

Most likely that is true, but I don't understand most of their languages so I don't follow their news, and therefore I dare not discuss it.

Languages differ but people are pretty much the same and so are their social structures.

Yes but a language barrier doesn't help much when trying to understand what's actually going on. I don't believe every horror-story, you know, because aside power abuse there is also struggle for power.

Yup. It's true. Exposing one person advantages another who may be worse, who knows. If Demmink is retired there may not be much power-struggle motivation anymore though. Rumours followed Jimmy Saville for years but nothing really came out until he was dead. Generally people will be protected as long as they are useful or loyal or exposing them would implicate others.

Indeed. Jerry Sadowitz in 1987: "Allegations of child abuse? .... Call in Jimmy Saville. You can't afford to f*ck about - bring in an expert........ He does all that charity work to gain public sympathy for when his case comes up..... Aye, he might've been able to fool you but not f*cking me..."
