I'm in Hampton Roads (Norfolk) and the most I noticed was a shaky floor and the ceiling-mounted TV going nuts.
 
Is Allah mad at the US for its treatment of Muslims or could it be that Virginia is full of gays? Are any other reasons for this even possible?
 
I've been wondering since 1:52pm EST how the media would spin this to blame Obama.. :)

btw, I felt the house shudder at 1:54Pm Eastern Time......my chair was "vibrating"
I looked around and got a sense that the walls were also vibrating and it wasn't just the wind pushing against the house. It lasted about 3 to 6 seconds and I knew it was a quake.

within a few minutes after I did a search I found out that there had been a quake and it was centered in Virgina
it was felt over a really large area.

I'm fully expecting people with brick walls/chimneys may found these damaged or fallen. But I doubt there will be too much serious damage.

You just know that sooner rather than later some nut is going to pop up on fstdt saying just that. :D

Actually I was waiting for Al Gore to be on TV saying it was proof of Global Warming.

Of the items geologists have worked on is what would be the effect of pressure changes on the crust due to melting glaciers. We have glaciers gone at the North Pole, enough to consider year round circumnavigation for the first time since European ship travel. Possibly it existed before but there is no records. These glaciers exert a force on the crust. Ice changed to water and the water moves about. The accompanying force of mass is more evenly distributed around the globe and not at the same spot.

On the surface I think the assumptions make sense. I think it'd be rather difficult to prove. We have significantly more earthquake monitors in the last 30 years. And basically none existed 200 years ago. So the math will be fairly tricky and I think this would be difficult to show. The proof would have to come in 100 years when we have enough records and enough resolution around the globe to see if this is/was a trend in any way.
