I've been wanting to play with MorphOS. My 'free' G4 was worth the recycling bucket. I figured go G5. MorphOS needs an ATI card and the G5/ATI seems to be difficult to come by. Or what I've found are way too expensive, $200 for a used G5/ATI. Nope.

So, for $40 I now have a 1.25Ghz eMac G4. I'm looking forward to getting this going. First step, I think, will be to find an older IDE drive and swap out the Apple drive. I'd like to go back to AppleOS, just in case.

Yeah, new old computer project.

I picked up a G4 tower Silverlight with CRT display in a fit of ebay madness (it was £6 or less than $10). I'd like to try it too...let me know how you get on. How much is the license these days?

Setup was very straight forward. Downloaded the ISO, burned a cd, rebooted holding C, and followed the prompts. OS is up and working. I didn't get much playtime yet. That is next.

Not sure the cost. I think 125 euros?

Nice. Let us know how you get on.

One thing to know is MorphOS uses M.agic U.ser I.nterface as it's OS GUI.

Time to go blow the dust off those Aminet CDs and I think I have ImageFX on CD somewhere.

ImageFX 4.5 is being a pia. I'll get it installed once my Amiga memory returns to my head. That flopping cds is being finicky

IFX 4.5 install CD was made especially for MOS. now, back then (it's been like 10 years, holy shit!) MOS had two separate files - libs, and so on.....is this still the case? Because that's what the install script is expecting, ya know.....

lookie me talking about Amiga stuff!!!!

I got away from the Morph project this weekend. It was a big computer week. My new Win8 touchbook (A6-6310)came and the 3TB MyBook. I played with hooking up the NAS and DLNA features of my Netgear R700 router and the 3TB MyBook. Overall - my files are on a few different drives, and few different computers. I'm planning to move it all to the MyBook for central storage and backup the MyBook.
