There is new, highly sensitive equipment available for finding these things as some unfortunate travelers have discovered while passing through Dubai - like the poor guy who was arrested and jailed for having 0.003g of cannabis stuck to the underside of his shoe.

The technology is amazing and we'll be seeing more of it soon.

Yes, that picture probably indicates why he was given the thorough inspection.
But one would think that the policy in Dubai is to prevent smuggling - not to penalize people with trace amounts on them. How much do you think you can get in Dubai for 0.003g of pot? Is it worth the air fare?

But then, Dubai customs stops a lot of things coming in like ... witchcraft and sorcery items.
