House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y., said Wednesday the FBI is investigating recent vandalism at her office in Niagara Falls, adding the incident was "a dreadful thing."

"The man doing it said it was because it will prevent civil war," Slaughter said.

According to a report in the Buffalo News, a brick was thrown through a window in Slaughter's office, causing about $350 worth of damage. The report said another window was broken at the Monroe County Democratic headquarters in Rochester, and cited similar incidents elsewhere in the country.

The FBI is also investigating a separate incident at the home of Virginia Rep. Tom Perriello's brother. Perriello's office confirmed that a line to a propane tank on a gas grill was cut at Bo Periello's Charlottesville home on Tuesday. Tea Party activists had posted the address online thinking it was the congressman's home, telling opponents to drop by and "express their thanks" for his vote.

The voice mails left for Stupak were particularly graphic. In one recording, a man swears at Stupak repeatedly while wishing for him to die.

"Congressman Stupak, you baby-killing mother f---er. ... I hope you bleed out your a--, got cancer and die, you mother f---er," he says.

"You and your family are scum," a man is heard saying in another message.

House Republican Leader John Boehner, in an interview with Fox News, acknowledged that people are "angry" about the health care bill but said "violence and threats are unacceptable."

"It is not the American way. Yes, I know there is anger, but let's take that anger and go out and register people to vote, go volunteer on a political campaign, and let's do it the right way," he said.

This is all going to get much, much worse. 4/5ths of the country is in a rage. Just wait until everything starts costing more as jobs get even harder to come by. I think the camel's back has the final straw on it and is starting to break.

A lot of idiots out there. No idea why you think things will cost more. More then anything, for most people things should get much cheaper.

79% of the public are idiots? Unless you mean the people committing violence and threats, I do not condone this of course. It is just inevitable and is just starting.

When you have inflation, everything costs more. If you mean specifically for medical care, not even the democrats in congress are claiming it will get cheaper for the majority of people.

Yes, by idiots I meant those making threats and making attacks.

Still, not sure how this health care bill will cause inflation, especially hyper inflation. Have you not read the post I made about how they predicted a complete collapse in Saskatchewan when they introduced universal health care? Not only did it not collapse, but every other province adopted it shortly afterwards. I see an amazing amount of unsubstantiated fear mongering here. In the end you're gonna look like a fool when none of these doomsday predictions pan out.

Btw, I'm not sure inflation is the worst thing in the world when you have more outstanding debt then you do investments. I think right now the US is in a state where the debts are high, a little bit of inflation can help pay it off a little easier.

Time will tell which direction costs go with respect to Obama Care. I have started a new thread in the Politics section that will try to list the anticipated negative impacts. So far I have two items listed. I am not starting that thread for flame purposes but to highlight what I perceive to be the inevitable cost increases or deficiencies that this new "plan" simply cannot control or provide. Truthfully I will be happy if I am wrong but so far I don't believe that I will be.

There was simply too much in the way of backroom deals and insufficient time to review (IMO) to make this plan anything more than a bad bill. But that of course is just my opinion.

@Mike
If this American "health care reform" is so great, why aren't congress, the President, VP and all related staffers not eating their own dog food?

Yeah, so wonderful for everyone but themselves

Thanks for the article Jim! Yep, if it is good enough for the country then shouldn't it be good enough for the administration (both sides)? I know my reasons to object to this beast would certainly be diminished. Typical government...

I don't see this bill as doing much in that respect. The bigger expense is military which has been unsustainable for decades. Financial fraud is still ongoing but that seems too politically difficult to clean up. Between the war industry and the financial industry the country is crushed. The healthcare bill will be minor in comparison. But the healthcare bill won't put protesters in the streets. Millions of people marched in the US against the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It didn't stop the invasion and once it was a done deal the protests died out.

Now that the healthcare bill is done the Dems can use the same "let's not go on about the past, let's look to the future" thing that the Republicans had become so good at.

There does seem to be an uptick in violent acts. This could be the result of incitement by right-wing media and wealthy interests funding tea-party style groups. At the moment it is probably just susceptible right-wingers who are unable to handle uncertainty and shades of gray acting out. Black and white thinkers don't handle ambiguity very well.

On the other hand, if we see a coordinated rise then it could be something more like the Fascist blackshirts or Nazi brownshirts. The constant fearmongering about "communists" from the mouthpieces of the moneyed interests are very reminiscent.

Right wing leaders inciting violence?

Historically speaking it is very common and has been used before to overthrow governments not performing as the elites would like.
