Credit where credit is due, I’ve been a Fitbit owner for about three years now. They make really great products, and they have a good, solid ecosystem built around their products to help you track how far you’ve walked, jogged, or moved.

Depending on your choice of Flex, or Fitbit One, they even track the flights of stairs you’ve climbed, and — to an extent — provide sleep tracking to let you know how well, or how badly you slept the night before.

To say that I’m a supporter and fan would be an adequate, if not slightly understated, notion. That’s why I’m worried about the future of Fitbit…

What I thought was a flaw with FitBit is that it requires it's own dongle to communicate with your PC. This makes it hard to communicate with an Android device directly. I know this because my wife owns a FitBit. And they're tough little suckers, it went through the wash + chlorine + dryer twice now. But I see it as mostly a waste of money as she hasn't worn it in months, in fact, since she was pregnant with our second so it's about a year. No idea where it even is now...

Interestingly, Google Now tells me once a month how far I've walked and biked. Kinda neat but not useful if you're a fitness nut.

Wait, what? How'd that news pass me by? Guess I haven't been paying attention. Congratulations.

I have a Fitbit scale at home. My ex manager got it for me as a present. I used to chart my weight quite aggressively so he got me this to automate that and that it did. However, I am kind of annoyed that I can't get my data and that Fitbit doesn't seem to keep it for very long. Once I maxed out the chart history I kind of lost interest in it.

Now I find that I haven't used in in so long, when I got on it yesterday it had forgotten who I was - it called me "Guest"!!!

Fluffy, Try syncing it with MyFitnessPal. MFP keeps that shit forever...

Yeah, I knew it wouldn't be long before Google dawned their black masks and gloves to steal HealthKit. They almost can't help themselves. Interestingly, I find that I would FAR more trust Apple with data than Google (who've already proven time and time again that they can't be trusted)

Frankly I'd rather trust the government than either of those two and that's not to say that I trust the government.

Thanks. He was born back in March. I didn't really announce it here though, so you didn't really miss it.
