Florida Key flooding up

A tidal gauge operating since before the Civil War has documented a sea level rise of 9 inches in the last century, and officials expect that to double over the next 50 years.

Nine inches seems incredibly high.

all teabaggers should move to Florida

I imagine that owning some highland property would be worth a fair chunk in 50 years.

I had no idea Florida had highlands but it appears it does:

That said, it isn't particularly 'high land'. Furthermore, it looks like the highest land in the entire state is only 345' above sea level, 312' if you only count the pan handle:

I sure hope that's high enough! Even if it'll be called the "Island for Florida".

Indeed and my nosiness has further revealed the highest point in Highlands County to be only 210 feet above the sea.

Yes, but now we all have an interesting bit of information we can keep in our back pockets for when discussing such matters at the local pub with the young lassies!

Alas, my days of engaging young, pub-dwelling lassies in conversation regarding the wonders of the low-lying-highlands of the deluge-threatened-pan-handle are but a wistful, distant and no doubt false memory.

Indeed, were I even to attempt such I fear that a doctor may be summoned, or perhaps even a constable. :D

@Red,
Perhaps this fear will lower land prices. You could swoop in and make a killing.

No offense intended, but that is "coo coo for coco pops".

You do understand I intend to live another 50 years and have a bookmark function on my browser? I remember when in the 90's when Al Gore was claiming Florida would be under water by the 00's.
I don't give a flying fu*k what Al Gore may say because he's not a Climate Scientist.

However, I AM looking forward to all photographs you will take as water comes rushing into your neighborhood.

Thanks in advance
