Florida's unemployment hit 12.2 percent in February, the highest rate on record, soaring past even the rates recorded in the 1973-1975 recession, the state work force agency said Friday.

February's rate rose a 0.2 percentage point from the January revised rate of 12 percent. More than 1.26 million people are out of work in the state.

And as I keep saying, it is worse than they are reporting. Just like every month, you see the previous month was quietly revised up. Next month will be the same. They are also not including most of the real unemployed in this number. Reality is probably closer to 1/3.

I've just spent a week in Puerto Vallarta and I've seen quite a few empty storefronts and broken windows down here this trip that I hadn't seen in years gone by. Apparently it's the Canadians that have been keeping the place alive. Far fewer Americans have been coming down in the last few years.

Don't worry, Red! Tim Geithner will save you! ....any day now....

"The economy is getting stronger," Geithner said in an interview Monday on CNBC.

"We're probably just on the verge now of what we think will be a sustained period of job creation finally."

[...]

"We're coming out of this crisis much more quickly, much stronger than is true for I believe any other major economy," Geithner said.

See? We're right on the VERGE! :roflmao:

Why the hell does this idiot still have a job?

(I grabbed the quotes from a Detroit News / Bloomberg reprint. Whole story here.)

Right, just like that scumbag Bernanke. No other explanation but corruption...
